Artmaking Workshop for Riverside County Office of Education— Visual and Performing Arts Program

An Online Workshop for High School Art Teachers

Learning outcomes: Creative skills put variety of disciplines and materials to good use and fun.

Class participants will explore altering books to create unique art treasures. Almost any hardcover or paperback book can be used for this project. One of the best things about this project is participants can apply any technique already known from other creative areas. Make an old book into your art journal by painting and drawing over the pages, cutting windows and doors, and pasting in photo transfers. Pages in a book can be folded, drawn or painted on directly. Altered books are very popular with mixed media artists.
