Printmaking Workshop at Sunnylands

It is in the spirit of José Guadalupe Posada (1851–1913) imagery and creativity we approach this workshop, incorporating the relief process in printmaking. In the relief process, the artist creates an image by carving away the surface of the block. The remaining surface forms the image and is inked with a roller called a brayer and the image is transferred to paper by hand printing or a running through a press.  For this workshop, soft linoleum will be used allowing participants to quickly create an image on the linoleum then print, transferring the image to paper. Participants can use imagery supplied but are encouraged to create their own imagery based upon the theme.
