This painting captures the charm of a retro sign advertising an ice cream stand, an enduring symbol of mid-century Americana. The sign, with its playful typography, weathered paint, and neon accents, evokes a bygone era of roadside attractions and simple pleasures. The melting ice cream imagery and faded colors speak to the passage of time, while the surrounding sky and landscape emphasize its sense of isolation and nostalgia. I was drawn to the sculptural form of the sign and its ability to tell a story of cultural history and changing landscapes.
