Artist's Statement

‍Relax Inn located on Van Buren Street in Phoenix Arizona was at one time, a “street of dreams.” Van Buren featured one of America’s most dazzling tourist strips and served as the “Eastern Gateway” to the city and was a prominent destination for travelers during its heyday. These places remind us of our history, often overlooked, but still visible if you step outside the ceaseless stream of progress. The interplay of color, composition, light, and painting technique serves to breathe new life into these iconic representations that populate our communities.
