A tall mid-century sign rises on a red pylon: angular white panels lettered CACTUS and, below, a partly cropped second word, then a stack of four yellow trapezoids. Palm trees and pale pink-lavender mountains sit low against a blue sky streaked with pink.

Dennis Johnson based the work on a scene in Desert Hot Springs, California. Mixed media and acrylic on canvas, 48" x 36", 2023-2024.
